The metaphor for the Wall that Pink builds really gives the music a lot of meaning and you really come to understand what the band wanted to convey when assembling this album. The storytelling in this was so good that it got it's own feature length film oriented around the album. The Wall, like many albums by Pink Floyd, is made to be played in order to tell a story and this album is, I think, the best example of it. What makes The Wall so good in my opinion is a combination of 2 main factors: Storytelling and great Musicality. However I won't do that since at the moment I'm torn between this and 'Dark side of the moon' for best album of all time. I think that Pink Floyd's 'The Wall' is an amazing album for numerous reasons and I could go on all day about how it, in my opinion, contains the best musicianship of any band ever and may even go as far as saying it is the greatest album ever released. It initially received mixed reviews from critics, many of whom found it overblown and pretentious, but later received accolades as one of the greatest albums of all time and one of the band's finest works. The album was a commercial success, topping the US charts for 15 weeks and reaching number three in the UK. It is a rock opera that explores Pink, a jaded rock star whose eventual self-imposed isolation from society forms a figurative wall. They became a leading band of the progressive rock genre, cited by some as the greatest progressive rock band of all time.

I have to crank my volume quite a bit to get a good strong sound. The only complaint I have is that Volume-wise, this is the quietest record in my collection.

I am quite sure that Any 70’s-80’s press would sound far better. So I cannot comment on the comparison between this and earlier pressings. I’ve only heard the album on cassette and cd. I have never heard an og pressing of this record. Having said that, this pressing is dead quiet, flat and with on-center spindle holes and no warps, thank you very much! Great quality control.
